Help When You Need It

Learner support funds can be used to help students of age 16 and over with the costs associated with their further educational courses. These costs could include books and equipment,extras like visits or field trips and emergencies affecting their living, learning or personal costs. It is targetted at those in greatest need and can be accessed by the student contacting the Student Support Officer at the college or school 6th form that they attend or intend to attend.

Learner support funds is a safety net of financial support for disadvantaged students from low-income households wishing to remain in education. 

Priority groups for learner support funds include: students with disabilities and/or learning difficulties, those leaving care, probationers, students reaching 19 and losing benefits during their courses.
